We are delighted that EchoBolt has been selected by Scottish Power Renewables to complete bolt integrity inspections on their onshore wind farms. EchoBolt ultrasonic measurement technology has been used to determine the preload in the wind turbine foundation connections ensuring the fasteners are accurately retightened and fit for continued operation.
EchoBolt’s technology can be used by the SPR going forward to monitor changes in bolt condition enabling future retightening to be highly targeted, helping to ensure the ongoing integrity of their assets.
“After a successful pilot project in 2023 to demonstrate the feasibility of ultrasonic bolt inspection, we are pleased to have been able to roll out the technology more widely. The EchoBolt team have been able to efficiently measure the preload in wind turbine anchor bolts giving us greater certainty about the health of these turbines and the ability to optimise maintenance interventions going forward reducing costs and maximising turbine production.”
